This week we finish our discussion of Bureau 13's primary training, reliquery, and dangerous supernatural containment facility. We concentrate on the last 2 parts this week.
What kinds of objects must be hidden away and destroyed?
What kind of creatures cannot be redeemed? And what do you do if they cannot be contained?
I have finally caught up with the podcast (yes, I listened to every episode in the past few months) and enjoyed it a lot. I however found this installment odd…. the containment facility itself is described to some detail in the story ‘Doomsday Exam’. It gives a decent idea what Banglor Main is, the defenses, the containment facility, the nature of the prisoner, and so on. I know the story is fairly old, but does that mean it’s no longer canon? Anyway, the discussion seemed to miss something because the work wasn’t referenced.
Nick Pollota’s books are great but they were never part of official B13 as an RPG.
If you want to go with that, you still have to add the 1 year = 1 day aspect. Otherwise, I don’t think you would go wrong with it.
I would recommend that you use Nick’s material as a starting point, because his descriptions served his needs as a writer. As a game designer you will be sure to find important omissions, so don’t be afraid to add to his material.
