Gaming on the Frontier

This week we begin our discussion of what goes into the design of a ship.  What role a ship should take in the game?  How important is it to the game?

This week we finish talking about the different kinds of games where you have to pick up the pieces.

this week we finish our discussion of Superscience (yes really I think we are done).

This week we continue to talk about how you can implement superscience is your game and what effects it will have.

Wow, I didn't know that it would take 3 separate sessions to record this topic but we are on the home stretch.  This topic is so important for Science fiction as it is so easy to just treat it as a Mcguffin and miss the wide reaching effects of super high tech on all parts of a society.

 

This week we finish our discussion of how to convert your existing campaign or game to a whole new system.  

This week we begin discussing how to change your game from one game mechanic to another.  Sometimes it is as simple as adding a foreign mechanic or chart to your existing game.  Other times everything has to change (say D&D to Fate).  It isn't as simple as "just recreate your character using the new system's rules as there may be equipment, setting, and lore that relied on the previous system to resolve.

This week we finish our discussion of why Video Games make such bad rpgs and how to improve them.

This week we ask the question:  Why do video games that propose to be rpgs do such a bad job at it?

We conclude our series on playing Fringeworthy in Mario World! We talk about what Earth Prime can get from the denizens of the Mushroom kingdom and other lands of Mario World, as well as the possibility of an all Mario World Fringeworthy team! It's Ridonkculous!
